Britain is no better than any other despotic regime if this is how it treats a journalist or whistle-blower in custody.

It makes no matter what your personal views on Julian Assange are. He is a political prisoner and like any other prisoner in the hands of the British state he should be treated with at least some dignity and respect, instead of being tortured to death?

The most urgent concern is that, in the United States, Mr. Assange would be exposed to a real risk of serious violations of his human rights, including his freedom of expression.

But also his right to a fair trial and the prohibition of torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment are in jeopardy.

WikiLeaks editor Julian Assange has been ordered to stay in a British prison despite reaching the end of his 50-week prison sentence.

Assange was due to be released on September 22, 2019 after serving his sentence for breaching bail conditions by seeking refuge in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London in 2012.

During a court hearing in London last month the judge denied Assange hos freedom and ordered to keep in Belmarsh prison for believing he might leave the country as a free man ahead of a hearing on his possible extradition to the USA.

People were badly shocked by just how much weight Assange has lost, by the speed his hair has receded and by the appearance of premature and vastly accelerated ageing. He has a pronounced limp I have never seen before.

Since his arrest, he has lost over 15 kg in weight. But his physical appearance was not as shocking as his mental deterioration. When asked to give his name and date of birth, he struggled visibly over several seconds to recall both.

The important content of his statement at the end of proceedings was making it very evident; it was a real struggle for him to articulate the words and focus his train of thought.

His legal team said, that they were worried that Julian might not live to the end of the extradition process. Really, or is this a bad joke?

Is Assange being food poisoned and tortured by the British authorities before he will be handed over the USA, a regime well known for punishing every opposition to poverty and death as a basic tool in the foreign policy package?

In the USA, Assange has been charged with possession and dissemination of classified information. If found guilty, he could receive up to 175 years in prison.

The activist has long warned that the US regime would attempt to extradite him after WikiLeaks published leaked material from the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton campaign manager John Podesta’s email account.

WikiLeaks also released the notorious ‘Collateral Murder’ video, which shows the US military attacking journalists and civilians in Iraq in July 2007.

Let kill him before he gets any other fabricated trial in the USA?
