The leader of the Hamas political wing, Ismail Haniyeh, has been assassinated along with one of his bodyguards in Tehran, the Palestinian group and Iranian authorities have confirmed.

Hamas was quick to blame the killing on Israel, which has so far declined to comment? The group said Haniyeh was killed on Tuesday morning in a treacherous attack of the Zionists on his residence in Tehran.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) has said an investigation is ongoing. Haniyeh, usually based in Qatar, was in the Iranian capital for the inauguration of the new president, Masoud Pezeshkian. Always a good time to find valuable political targets.

The assassination of Haniyeh is a cowardly act that will not go unpunished, the Hamas-run channel Al-Aqsa TV quoted senior Hamas official Moussa Abu Marzouk as saying.

This assassination by the Israeli occupation of Brother Haniyeh is a grave escalation that aims to break the will of Hamas, senior Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri told Reuters. He went on to say that Hamas will continue the path it is following, and is confident of victory.

Israel had threatened to eliminate Haniyeh and other leaders of Hamas over the group’s October, 7 attack on Israel that killed 1,200 soldiers and concert spectators, but also saw some 250 others taken hostage.

Earlier this year an Israeli air strike in central Gaza killed three sons and four grandchildren of Haniyeh. The military claimed they were involved in terrorist activities. Haniyeh at the time said that about 60 victims as members of his family had been killed since October. 2023.

From Qatar, Haniyeh had been the militant group’s diplomatic front-man, acting as a mediator in ceasefire negotiations and talks on the return of Israeli hostages during the Israel-Hamas war.

Iran swore in the country’s new president on Tuesday, with the reformist politician and heart surgeon Masoud Pezeshkian pledging that his administration will keep trying to remove economic sanctions imposed by the West over Tehran’s controversial nuclear program.

Pezeshkian delivered a speech after taking his oath in a ceremony at the parliament in Tehran, Iran’s capital. He said he considers the normalization of economic relations with the world to be Iran’s inalienable right.

Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, on Sunday officially endorsed Pezeshkian, urging him to prioritize neighbors, African and Asian nations as well as countries that have supported and helped Iran in Tehran’s foreign relations policies.

Kidnapped by the System > The Israeli intelligence agency Mossad killed 60 of his family members because they know their whereabouts, mentally torturing the Hamas peace negotiator for not doing what he was told to do. So the Zionist swamp has blown him away, because that is their main and driving evil policy, no democracy here, neither in Gaza, where Israel is aiming to confiscate the huge gas fields along the Gaza shoreline.

Haniyeh was too stupid to use WhatsApp. Even a person that suffered brain damage knows that you cannot use US or better say western made communication tool or software because all the tools and software are full of back doors. The moment Haniyeh was talking with his son on WhatsApp Israel received the exact coordinates. Who owns WhatsApp and who owns Facebook? Facebook and WhatsApp servers are directly connected to Israel’s security services. All this Muslim figures that… Read more »

New reports indicate it was a shoulder-launched ATGM, not an airstrike that killed Haniyeh. Some Iranians were involved in this assassination. Haniyeh was staying 150 meters from the new Iranian president’s residence.

Harris’s harder line comes as further evidence emerges of the catastrophic conditions in Gaza. The Guardian revealed that dozens of US doctors and nurses who have worked in Gaza have written to Biden and Harris to call for the US to withdraw diplomatic and military support for Israel until there is a ceasefire. Writing that in their view the death toll is already greater than 92,000, they say they cannot forget “the scenes of unbearable cruelty directed at women and children that we witnessed ourselves”. They write: “Every single signatory to this letter treated children in Gaza who suffered violence… Read more »
