An Iranian F-14 Tomcat fighter jet has crashed in the coastal county of Tangestan in Iran’s southern Bushehr province, news agency Mehr has reported. Two crew members survived the incident, which was blamed on a technical malfunction.

The F-14 was first deployed in early 70’s replacing the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II. The F-14 was retired from the U.S. Navy’s active fleet on 22 September 2006.

So, It is an old plane and needs a lot care and maintenance to be operational. Adding all the sanctions US and its puppets have put on Iran on the top, it has not made the matter easier!

Iran should deploy more of aircraft’s like Su-29;s, Su-35’s to make a important difference, but Russia displays other cards on the table for now. Electronic warfare has become the new standard.
