The population and former employees of the largest oil refinery in the Caribbean have been given false hope about its reopening, or whether everyone is simply denying reality and ignoring the impossibility of refining crude oil on CuraƧao.
Johan van Megesen, chairman of Clean Air Everywhere, also poses critical questions in his opinion piece about the future of the former ISLA refinery on CuraƧao. He prefers that another form of eco-terrorism will be established and spreads false propaganda.

Van Megesen takes us back in history, starting with the opening of the refinery by Shell in 1918, and explains why the location was so important from the start.
He discusses the economic and environmental challenges that have plagued the island in recent decades and concludes that the idea of āāreopening the refinery is both economically and technically unfeasible.
His argument calls for a reconsideration of current strategies and advocates a sustainable and forward-looking approach to the island’s colonial development.
Global Airlines can’t reduce Carbon Footprint and drops 2030 Climate Target
At the same time he completely ignores the enormous carbon footprint of the mass tourism industry, where every flying passenger alone emits 10 times the amount emission, compared to a person driving a V8 engine automobile.
Only six of the 27 EU member states have submitted national climate plans that are up to scratch. 12 EU nations are set to miss their national climate targets under the Effort Sharing Regulation (ESR), according to a study analyzing national climate plans.
Another seven are at risk of not meeting their goals. If they donāt meet their required emissions reductions, they may have to pay financial penalties.

Air travel makes up about 2.5% of global carbon emissions, but itās one of the most carbon-intensive activities per passenger.Ā Without intervention, CO2 emissions from commercial aircraft are on course to triple by 2050 according to SBTi.
Other airlines listed on the SBTi database as having removed their commitment to near-term emissions goals included United Airlines, the German carrier Lufthansa, Britainās easyJet, LATAM Airlines Chile and Japan Airlines.
Stay Grounded argues that whatās needed is strong government regulation to deter people from flying, such as a frequent flyer levy, a tax on kerosene, airport caps and an end to all airport expansion.

The ESR is a policy framework ā part of the EUās climate and energy package ā that sets binding national greenhouse gas targets for the 27 member states. It requires them to collectively cut emissions by 40% (compared to 2005) by 2030.
Member states have to meet climate targets for five key sectors: road transport, buildings, small industry, waste and agriculture. Each goal is adjusted based on a countryās GDP with richer nations having stricter requirements.
The report from Transport & Environment (T&E) found that the two worst-performing countries are Germany and Italy. Germany is projected to miss its climate targets by 10% and Italy by 7.7%.

In 1918, Shell opened the refinery in Curacao. But don’t think that this location was Shell’s first choice. They would have much rather built a refinery at the source in Zulia in Venezuela.
Shell already knew then that owning a refinery that is not either at the oil source or at least directly at the customers, entails much higher costs and cannot compete in the long term.
With low oil prices and ambulant competition, you can’t keep that up. In the period from 1954 to 1969, Shell tried to limit costs and employment at the ISLA on CuraƧao decreased by 75%.
Curacao being Invaded and Impoverished by Corporate Tourist Development
In 1985, Shell withdrew completely, because it was not profitable (or would ever be profitable) for Shell to have a refinery on CuraƧao.
The only solution for Curacao was to find an operator who had oil but not enough refining capacity. From 1985 to 2019, Venezuela’s PdVSA made sure local employment was guaranteed to keep the economy running.
Things like TAN Count, Sweetness (high Sulphur in our case) and API determine the product you make. The ISLA is very suitable for refining heavy crude oil form Venezuela. The Curacao refinery lists in the top-25 largest plants in the world.
But Dutch politicians and travel networks that provide business for human trafficking rings that support the tourism industry decided, without consulting local employment interests that the local refinery must be destroyed and flattened to build a so-called Green Town.
Gilmar Pisas (MFK) wants to be re-elected and is therefore not going to spread the truth widely.
Mr. Patrick Newton ‘earns’ (or rather: receives) a very generous salary and is not going to shoot his own nose in the face by telling the truth, but all these gentlemen know exactly what the truth is.

However the four Dutch refineries operated in Pernis Rotterdam, the Netherlands are kept open and operational with high oil prices driving the investment. So, it is not about pollution, but rather about modern slavery and controversial colonial development.
The conclusion is clear: there will never be another refinery in the Dutch Caribbean and there will never be another refinery active in Curacao. Not even in Bullenbaai. It is a empty dream, for the Dutch colonial annexation process to be continued.

The only real solution is to dissolve the RDK, clean up the site and give a new purpose to the areas in the Schottegat and at Bullenbaai. That creates opportunities and work right away. That works towards a future with jobs for CuraƧao.
For now Hong Kong based Oryx company has been given the opportunity by the local MFK government to profit from the partially refined products stashed in the so-called Asfaltmeer in order to clean up the WW II oil residues stored and kept in Curacao.
After that the biggest oil refinery in the Caribbean will be smashed down to plunge the island into long-lasting poverty, so the remaining local unemployed population can be deported to the Netherlands in order to live as migrants between all the other economic refugees.

Curacao has been double-crossed since 10-10-10, when the Dutch colonialists invented a new autonomous status, opening the mass tourism flood gates that now control the islands economy, while locals are deported to escape poverty and ridiculous measures implemented by the Zionist gangsters!
Land grab is the new glorified narrative, calling the hardworking and taxpaying locals corrupt and untrustworthy, but the Dutch are the only ones buying permits, bribing politicians to privatize more and more public properties.
I can sympathise Scotlands only oil refinery is being closed with the loss of 400 jobs it means Scotland is the only oil producing nation in the world with no oil refinery that’s what comes from foreign companies owning your resources .
That is nice to keep Scotland’s air cleaner for their own population. However Curacao has the largest oil refinery in the Caribbean, with the capacity to produce 300k barrels per day (top-25 globally in 2018) and provide about 6.000 direct and indirect jobs for the local populations of 150k. Therefore looks to be outrageous to close this refinery with sky rocketing oil prices and an unemployment rate of +50% on the island. The ISLA refinery is now planned to be torn down in order to be replaced by a so-called Green Town, which carbon footprint will be bigger then the… Read more »
If you lived in Scotland you would not be so worried about air quality air pollution index where I live is today 3 which is in the green yesterday it was 2 ,its lack of jobs for young people –this country is now a service industry country with low paid jobs -would you rather live in poverty with bad health due to unable to afford high priced food or live a shorter life but able to live in moderate luxury ? Our government are zealots to Green credentials destroying businesses throwing cars off the road even if you live in… Read more »
Here our youth has been unemployed for a couple of generations, turning them into so-called criminals to get a piece of bread or get food support offered by the Red Cross. Over 60% of the employed population has been enslaved to apply for minimum wages, in a couple of years time our social health security will ended as well, for the survivors to end up in hell anyways. What happens here is a model for global future generations to come. If you ain’t Dutch, you ain’t much is the glorified motto. The highest lodge (34) of the FM’s are seated… Read more »
