The world’s largest aircraft carrier is experiencing problems with a service that is an integral part of every sailor’s life—in this case, more than 4 crew members.

The USS Gerald R. Ford, built at a cost of approximately $13 billion, is experiencing ongoing problems with its nearly 650 toilets.

The challenges primarily revolve around the vacuum collection, storage, and transport (VCHT) system, which redirects and disposes of wastewater by sucking the waste through pipes under pressure.

The US Navy command denies the severity of the problem, pointing out that the failures were usually isolated and did not have a negative impact on the rest of the sewer system:

Repairs take on average 30 minutes to 2 hours. During this time, the rest of the system continues to operate autonomously.

NPR disagrees, pointing out that 205 toilet breakdowns occurred during the four-day voyage alone. In several cases, blame was placed on sailors who allegedly mishandled the plumbing, disrupting the sewer system.

As American journalists note, this is a long-standing problem. Even the Government Accountability Office’s 2020 findings indicated that the sewer pipes running throughout the ship were too narrow to ensure proper flushing.

It was reported that the Navy had to spend $400 to clean them—that’s how much a unique acidic chemical cost.

It is astounding that a military ship costing $13 Billion employing I take it the top scientific brains in the USA cant work out pipe bore required in relation to the number of crew members using the toilets .

If the suction process or disintegration equipment is being used to reduce bore diameter to save space are not up to the job then financial corners have been cut to save money or financial corruption has taken place with substandard equipment .

Its either one of the two incompetence or corruption
