The Russian government decreed to close several railway border crossings on the state border with Latvia, Finland and Estonia.
The movement of people, vehicles, goods and cargoes via the border crossings designated by the government is suspended.
The Russian Foreign Ministry was instructed to notify Riga, Tallinn and Helsinki about the decision made by Moscow and effective from July 1, 2026.
The closed border crossings include St. Petersburg-Finlyandsky, Vyborg, Vyartsilya, Ljuttja and Svetogorsk (all of them for Finland), Pechory-Pskovskiye on the border with Estonia, and Pytalovo bordering on Latvia.

Should have done it long ago for the Baltic states who continually badmouthed Russia , Finland came later now inviting nukes into its country .
What will be missed is Russian oil/gas , minerals ,chemicals ,wood and such like imports..
Shutting the railways connection is a wise military strategic move ,as well as them now having to rely totally on any road connection left and rely on western countries imports which will be dearer due to logistics as well as the much cheaper Russian goods.
Bottom line — Russia doesn’t need them ,
Even the Germans (*AfD) are shouting to get Russian gas back into the economy, as much more expensive American fracked gas is leading to the demise of the Germany.
4.5 times the price the American consumer pays AS – sent in tankers over 4000 miles using “Bunker Fuel ” which pollutes the atmosphere more than a small country.
The AfD are the only German party with any sense of reason but are getting condemned by the German government.
