Albania plays an important role in NATO, which is important for Albania, but even more important for NATO. And as Jens Stoltenberg mentioned the post-WW II military organization now has a program where they invest in and operate an airbase in Albania.
NATO is currently financing the renovation of Kucove Air Base in central Albania, which will be the alliance’s first airbase in the western Balkans.
NATO’s Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said during a meeting with Albanian President Ilir Meta, that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization is also looking into investing in a naval base in Albania.
So far, no decision has been taken on any additional investments in a naval base, but this is something which is assessed by the military authorities and military experts, based on that NATO will make decisions.
After the Berlin Wall came down in 1991, the Warsaw Pact was dissolved, with NATO expanding itself into the vacant eastern European countries, now building military bases @ Russia doorstep. However, the fake media reports about that Russia forms a threat to Europe.
