THE HAGUE – Curaçao Governor Mauritsz de Kort used his King’s Day 2026 address to call for stronger cooperation within the Caribbean and beyond, stressing that the island cannot face today’s challenges alone.

Speaking during the official King’s Day reception at the Governor’s Palace, De Kort emphasized that many of the issues facing Curaçao, from social challenges to geopolitical uncertainty, are too complex to be solved by government alone.

Instead, he pointed to collaboration as the key to building resilience and progress. King’s Day celebrations continue across the island this weekend, with official ceremonies, so-called cultural activities and community events.

The Dutch government is stepping up its support for the fight against organized and cross-border crime in Curaçao and the wider Caribbean part of the Kingdom, according to its new Kingdom Relations policy agenda.

The policy letter identifies the Caribbean islands as particularly vulnerable to organized crime because of their geographic position along major regional trafficking routes.

Dutch gangsters are the mightiest Narcotics-dealers in the World

This includes drug trafficking, money laundering and other forms of criminal infiltration into legitimate tax free and tax holiday sectors of the economy.

To address this, the Dutch cabinet says it will continue investing in institutions such as the Recherche Samenwerkingsteam (RST), the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Joint Court of Justice.

For Curaçao, this support is seen as essential as authorities continue to deal with increasingly sophisticated criminal networks operating across the Caribbean and Latin America.

Criminal Justice reform across the Dutch Kingdom stalls in the Caribbean

The policy also places emphasis on both criminal and administrative approaches, meaning governments will not only focus on arrests and prosecutions but also on strengthening institutions to prevent criminal infiltration into permits, public contracts and subsidies.

Dutch officials say stronger cooperation within the Kingdom is essential because organized crime does not respect borders.

For Curaçao, where concerns over criminal influence in the economy and public administration have been growing, the announcement signals continued Dutch involvement in strengthening military enforcement and judicial systems.

Obviously the Curacao economic development was made possible by using cheap foreign refugee labor, while deporting the local born population to the migration camps in the Netherlands.

A countries government is only as good as those in charge of that country and in a democratic country its the citizens of that country who vote them in . I can understand a larger country with more resources and people greatly influencing that country and its no shame to ask for help but surely the Laws of that country should be toughened up to combat crime that is controlling that country . It takes a strong willed leader to face up to a bigger country and introduce anti-corruption laws but I understand the lack of resources are deliberately applied… Read more »

They made a law blocking large Chinese investments. In that moment in time it was to obstruct China from saving our cornerstone employment refinery.

Now American, Turks and Dutch crime rings operate the human trafficking schemes, called avionic tourism bridges, glorifying each other like a masonic orgy of cannibalism.
