WASHINGTON, July 25. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump has stated that he would be willing to listen to proposals from Iranian representatives to resolve the ongoing conflict.

By the way, they [Iranian authorities] are talking to us right now. They would like to make a deal. I don’t think they are ready, I don’t think it is time yet.

Israel not Iran is major nuclear threat in Middle East

But I am willing to listen [to them]. But they can’t have a nuclear weapon, Trump said Friday at a reception for the White House Correspondents’ Association.

Iranian authorities have repeatedly stated that they do not seek to acquire nuclear weapons. The US regime and Israel launched a military campaign against Iran on February 28, 2026.

In June, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding providing for an immediate cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon.

However, on the night of July 8, the US resumed large-scale strikes against Iran, accusing Tehran of violating the terms of the agreement regarding the Strait of Hormuz.

US Reinforces Military Presence in the Middle East

At the same time, the United States has significantly expanded its military presence across the Middle East.

B-1B Lancer supersonic strategic bombers have been deployed to the United Kingdom and have reportedly already participated in strike missions targeting sites inside Iran.

Military observers have also reported a large-scale movement of KC-46 Pegasus and KC-135 Stratotanker aerial refueling aircraft into the region. Rather than operating from Israeli airfields, many of these tankers have relocated to air bases in western Saudi Arabia.

The U.S. Air Force has also redeployed the EA-37B Compass Call, one of its most advanced electronic warfare aircraft, designed to disrupt enemy communications and radar systems.

Iran strikes US-operated Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain

On Juli 8, 2026 the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, elite units of the Iranian Armed Forces) have carried out strikes on 85 US military facilities in Bahrain and Kuwait in response to US attacks on Iranian territory, the Fars agency reported.

As an initial response to this aggression, the naval and aerospace forces of the IRGC, in a joint operation [using] missiles and drones, struck 85 important US military facilities at Salman Port, the 5th Fleet area [of the US Navy] in Bahrain, and Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait, the agency quoted the IRGC statement.
