The UN Security Council today unanimously extended the mandate of its assistance mission in Afghanistan for one year without altering its tasks or priorities.
The resolution extends the mandate of the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) until 17 March 2026.

It urges all relevant Afghan political actors and stakeholders, including relevant authorities as needed, as well as international actors to coordinate with UNAMA in the implementation of its mandate and to ensure the safety, security and freedom of movement of UN and associated personnel throughout the country.
The 15-member Council also requested that UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres provide quarterly reports on the situation in Afghanistan and the implementation of UNAMA’s mandate, including at the subnational level.
Based in Kabul, UNAMA has approximately 1,200 personnel.

Yes that’s the key word –ALTERING-the UN is there at the insistence of the USA who openly proclaim that as they provide the largest amount of money in subsistence to the UN they have the right to decide its actions . This was proved when a UN department decided to criticise Israel for its actions against Palestinians immediately they were threatened with sanctions and the withdrawal of funds . Why exactly are they needed and what do they do there?
Supposedly to “keep the peace ” but as you know from actual actions they are a wing of American Hegemony looking after American interests , if you dont believe me ask all those African states that booted them out as contrary to what they said they caused more devastation than was occurring before they entered the countries.
They acted against the country they were in if it was in US interests actually blocking those countries own armies from removing the terrorists.
