WILLEMSTAD – The Ministry of Economic Development has announced a three-month extension of the moratorium on issuing permits for fixed stands and vending on or near public beaches in Curaçao.
The measure will now remain in effect until April 4, 2026, and applies to all public beaches, including Klein Curaçao.
According to the Ministry of Economic Development, the extension is needed to allow sufficient time to complete an ongoing assessment of the current situation on public beaches and to further develop a comprehensive policy framework.
This process is being carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Health, Environment and Nature and the Ministry of Traffic, Transport and Urban Planning.
During the extended moratorium period, no new applications for beach vending or stand locations on or adjacent to public beaches will be accepted or processed.

The government says the pause is intended to ensure that future regulations are based on a careful and balanced analysis.
The Ministry of Economic Development thanked the community for its understanding and cooperation, noting that the extension is aimed at creating clear, fair and sustainable policy guidelines.
According to the ministry, the new framework is expected to strike a balance between environmental protection, mass tourism development and local economic interests.
