Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is reportedly preparing to introduce a resolution on Thursday to the Senate “disapproving” the planned sale of $735 million in precision-guided weapons mounted on F-35 war jets for Israel.

This comes as the Gaza death toll reaches 230, including 65 children. In addition, 1,760 have been injured and 50,000 families have been displaced due to ongoing Israeli airstrikes.

After 11 days of exchange, Israel and Hamas have reportedly agreed to a ceasefire, negotiated by Egypt, to start on Friday. US President Joe Biden announced the agreement shortly after and “commended” Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu for ending hostilities.

In announcing the ceasefire, President Biden committed the United States to rebuilding Gaza, with the cooperation of the Palestinian Authority. He did not address the 13-year-long siege Israel has maintained on the Gaza Strip.

Biden said he had spoken to Benjamin Netanyahu six times in the last 11 days. He thanked Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi for negotiating the deal and expressed his sympathy for the families who lost loved ones during the conflict.
