Russia’s chief negotiator at the Ukraine peace talks in Istanbul, Vladimir Medinsky, has delivered a statement following the first direct peace talks between Moscow and Kiev in three years. The discussions on Friday lasted for nearly two hours.

Medinsky acknowledged Kiev’s request for a meeting involving Vladimir Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin, and confirmed that both sides will soon present detailed proposals for a potential ceasefire, after which the negotiations will continue.

Direct negotiations with the Ukrainian side, organized at the initiative of the president of Russia, have just concluded. Overall, parties are satisfied with the outcome and are ready to continue political contacts.

First – in the coming days, a large-scale prisoner exchange will take place, 1,000 for 1,000 people was agreed in Istanbul.

Secondly – the Ukrainian side requested direct talks between the heads of state, and we have taken this request into account.

And third – we agreed that each side will present its vision of a possible future ceasefire, outlining it in detail. Once these visions are presented, it has been mutually agreed that it would be appropriate to continue our negotiations.

Ever-since France has emerged as one of the leaders of the hybrid NATO proxy war against Moscow, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has said. She made her remarks after the EU agreed to its 17th package of sanctions.

France, together with Britain, proposed the ‘Coalition of the Willing’ to take a more proactive role supporting Ukraine in its fight with Russia in February 2025 after Donald Trump moved to adopt a more conciliatory stance towards resolving the conflict.

Over the past few months, the French have effectively become the leaders of the West’s ‘party of war, citing France’s military aid to Ukraine and its push for additional hostile sanctions on Russia.

France has played a major role in devising illegitimate sanctions packages in the past. Now, Macron is attempting to blackmail Russia with new, supposedly broader sanctions.

Macron warned the EU would impose new sanctions “in the coming days” if Moscow does not accept Ukraine’s demand for an unconditional 30-day ceasefire.

Earlier this year, Paris delivered a first batch of Mirage 2000 fighter jets to Kiev.

Russia has warned that military aid to Ukraine would only lead to further escalation.

President Vladimir Putin has insisted that, for a lasting ceasefire, Ukraine must halt its mobilization campaign, stop receiving weapons from abroad, and withdraw its troops from all territory claimed by Russia.

I believe that Russia’s people will never be able to live with them self if they surrender to the west. It would be insane if Russia decided to surrender to those gangsters. They live to kill. That is what the west lives for. Your advantage is that Trump is not so happy about the left-wings either. The price is simply too big. The price victims has to pay. That Trump wants to make his mineral thing in Ukraine is okay. But only if Russia then will get other things in return. You will regret it forever if you surrender to… Read more »

Macron made a big deal out of going to Russia at the beginning of the war, trying to set himself up as some kind of interlocutor. In reality, it was just a deceptive move that surely didn’t fool Putin.

France wouldn’t last a week against Russia in a real war. That’s why the cowardly Europeans are pushing Ukraine to do the fighting for them. If Ukraine had a sane leader, he would never have been fooled by the West’s duplicity.
