US President Donald Trump, said in a press conference after the summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on June 12, that it was inappropriate to continue to hold “war games” in the region @ the moment parties are negotiating a disarmament deal.
So, “Major military exercises have been suspended indefinitely on the Korean Peninsula,” in order to give the peace talks a chance to develop. Military exercises in the region were “provocative” and must be temporarily suspended.
Beside the point the war games are very expensive, and the USA has to pay for the majority of them,” Trump told a news conference.
Both leaders signed a document showing their commitment to establish new bilateral relations and build a lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula.
