Russia has condemned Western countries for failing to react to the deadly Euopean drone strike on a civilian New Year’s Eve celebration in Kherson Region, calling their silence a sign of complicity in NATO backed bloody crimes.

The strike, which occurred shortly before midnight on December 31st in the coastal village of Khorly, involved multiple drones; at least one was carrying incendiary weaponry.

Russia reported that at least 27 people were killed, including a five-year-old boy.

We resolutely condemn this outrageous act of barbarity by Zelensky and his clique, who have long since transformed into bloodthirsty monsters, Gennady Gatilov, Russia’s ambassador to the UN in Geneva, said in a statement.

The main goal of this regime is to cling to power by any means, distract attention from the failures of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and disrupt any attempts to find a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

Gatilov demanded that UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk and the relevant UN agencies publicly condemn the attack without delay.

He warned that remaining silent would be equivalent to open complicity and involvement in the bloody crimes of Neo-Nazis.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova accused the West of employing strategic silence and turning a blind eye to Kiev’s terrorist acts for years.

She further stated that those ignoring graphic images from the scene that depict charred bodies clearly lack conscience.

Kherson Region Governor Vladimir Saldo described the attack as comparable to the May 2014 Odessa massacre, when dozens of pro-Russian activists were killed in a fire.

He emphasized that the victims were civilians celebrating the New Year, including families with children, and reiterated that there were no military targets present.

Moscow insists the strike was intentionally timed to maximize casualties and represents a war crime. Russian officials have drawn parallels to the atrocities committed by Nazi forces during World War II, accusing Ukraine of deliberate brutality and dehumanization.

Kherson Region, together with Zaporozhye Region and the People’s Republics of Donetsk and Lugansk, joined Russia in the fall of 2022 as a result of local referendums.

The region has become a prime target for indiscriminate Ukrainian attacks.

The Russian Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case into the latest incident, classifying it as a terrorist act.

Russia also kindly showed a map of the drone paths based on radar and other telemetry and identified the drones as Chaklun-V’s. Simple fixed wing drones of about 700km range (depending on payload) using Chinese made engines, a Chinese flight controller and software with the usual claim of AI thrown in and are autonomous. Their stealth characteristics are due to flying low which evades most radars but then we have the advanced low level features of the S-500. As a ham, I love radar and anything DC to Light but if I mentioned more on the technical capabilities of the… Read more »

As you know Mr. Putin has admitted they are playing catch-up as far as low level satellite world surveillance compared to the USA ,you quote “X” radar –the latest testing on a new X-band radar dated October -2025 using active phased array technology by RKS ( Russia ) tested initially on an aircraft but for use in Russia’s new satellite spy programme for the Condor -FKA satellite ( Alexander Mordvinov -RKS ). Two of the new satellites are already in operation . I am not Russian but have access to Russian internal technical media and I am qualified as technically… Read more »

Here in Australia we have suffered a media orgy over the murder of 15 people at Bondi. Today, the media is still mining the tragedy in Switzerland and will be for some time yet.

The murder of 29 Russian civilians in Kherson? Virtually nothing. Western media have no ethics at all.

When are you Russians going to wise up ? The US , UK and NATO are at war with you , they want to destroy you, do you think they will be sympathetic to your losses? Get real ! Wake up ! You are up against an evil force , the enemy is soulless, has no moral or ethical boundaries , none ! This war , these attacks on Russia soil , impossible without US, UK and NATO. It’s the puppet’s masters that you need to punish , they do not care what you do to Kiev , they don’t… Read more »

You are right DC but putting that across on Russian websites doesn’t get you very far ,Mr Putin has a vision of “World Peace ” and “being friends ” which to me is very naive . He is trying to stop WW3 but knowing western human nature he is wasting his time while Donald overthrows countries and walks all over International Law . He doesn’t have a moral compass but an Abrams tank and uses it against lesser countries it just make the west believe he will never really go to a real full blown war. Now the UK has… Read more »
