Tel Aviv will gradually lift certain Corona-virus measures starting from Sunday. Easing the lock down includes allowing some businesses to reopen, as well as relaxing control over movement of citizens.
Israel was put under partial lock down on March 14, and since then the restrictive measures have been gradually growing. The country boasts low Corona-virus figures, having just over 13,000 confirmed cases including some 160 deaths.
American intelligence passed an early warning about the Corona-virus to Tel Aviv and NATO as far back as November, Israel’s Channel 12 claims, even after a top US medical intel officer dismissed a similar report just last week.
The US intelligence community shared classified information about a new viral outbreak in China with the Israeli military and senior NATO officials.
With a series of mostly anonymous claims and denials from dueling intelligence sources, as well as purported classified documents nobody in the public has actually laid eyes on, it remains unclear exactly when the American intelligence community caught wind of China’s epidemic.
Beijing and the WHO have rejected Washington’s claims as baseless, insisting they provided timely and transparent information about the virus as soon as it was available, both even creating timelines detailing their response step-by-step, while the UN and much of the world have warned all sides to not politicize the pandemic.
However, the new guidelines put forward include re-opening some stores, including those selling electronics, and household goods; doing sports outdoors and praying in open spaces.
The Israeli government will begin to gradually ease restrictions imposed amid the COVID-19 outbreak starting on 19 April, 2020.
Additionally, the prime minister pledged to re-open special education schools and allow for kindergartens to operate with reduced class sizes.
Public transportation will also increase in frequency to allow citizens to travel to work. Netanyahu warmed that Muslims who are celebrating Ramadan must keep following quarantine measures.
