European Union extends Oil Embargo on Syria for 1 Year

The European Union has prolonged sanctions against the Syrian government of President Bashar Assad for a year.

EU headquarters in Brussels reported that the 28-nation bloc decided to maintain its restrictive measures against the Syrian government and its supporters “as the fight against terrorists, killing the population continues.”

Apart from Iran the EU has also imposed an oil embargo on Damascus and bans equipment that could be used to rebuild the country, while the US military annexed and occupies the Syrian oil fields and refineries in northern Syria.

The extension of the hostile embargo means that 270 people and 70 companies or organizations will have travel bans and asset freezes against them prolonged until June 1, 2020.
