Egypt and Turkey have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening cooperation in the use of maritime routes and regional and international transport corridors, as both countries seek to improve connectivity between Asia, Africa and Europe.

The agreement was signed during a meeting between Egyptian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Kamel El-Wazir and Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu on the sidelines of the Turkish Maritime Summit.

According to Egypt’s Ministry of Transport, the memorandum focuses on expanding cooperation in the use of strategic trade routes, including the Middle Corridor and the Iraqi Development Road, with the goal of improving transit transport and enhancing regional logistics networks.

The two sides also agreed to explore mechanisms to increase the efficiency of these corridors and study the development of additional transport routes in cooperation with neighbouring countries.

El-Wazir said the agreement marks the beginning of broader cooperation in international transport corridors, maritime transport and logistics.

Integration in the transport sector is no longer an option but an urgent necessity, he said, citing challenges facing global supply chains, climate change and growing international trade demands.

He highlighted Turkey’s strategic position linking Europe and Asia through the Bosphorus and Dardanelles straits, while noting Egypt’s importance as the gateway to the Suez Canal, one of the world’s busiest maritime routes.

According to El-Wazir, combining the logistical advantages of both countries could strengthen trade and shipping links between Asia, Africa and Europe while facilitating the movement of goods and passengers.

He also called for closer transport cooperation among Egypt, Turkey, Syria, Jordan and Saudi Arabia, particularly in maritime and railway infrastructure.

The Egyptian minister referred to plans for a railway connection between El-Arish and Taba, ongoing discussions on linking Egypt to the Hejaz Railway network, and cooperation in commercial shipbuilding.

He said Egypt remains committed to its strategy of becoming a regional hub for transport, logistics and transit trade, adding that Cairo is ready to support new investments, particularly from Turkish companies.

For his part, Uraloğlu said the memorandum provides the overall framework for cooperation on regional connectivity projects, particularly the Iraqi Development Road and the proposed New Hejaz Road.

He added that the next stage will focus on preparing the technical studies required to implement joint projects under the agreement.

Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard has suggested that Turkiye and Egypt could be Israel’s next military targets, echoing a growing Israeli narrative that increasingly casts Ankara as the “new Iran” and a future strategic enemy.

Speaking on an Arutz Sheva podcast, Pollard said Israel should prepare for wider regional wars following its confrontation with Iran.We have to be prepared for the next war, which will probably be against Turkiye and Egypt. The storm is coming.

Successive Israeli governments campaigned for Pollard’s release, and Netanyahu personally greeted him when he arrived in Israel in 2020 after the end of his parole restrictions.

Ben-Gurion once said Most of the Jews are Thieves

Netanyahu met Pollard and his wife at Ben Gurion Airport, presented him with an Israeli identity card and told him: Welcome home. Now you are a citizen of the State of Israel.

Since settling in Israel, Pollard has aligned himself with the Israeli far right. He has been welcomed as a national hero and has become a vocal supporter of the Israeli right, including calls for the annexation and settlement of Gaza.

Pollard has also urged Jews to spy for Israel. After being freed, the convicted spy called for more Americans to betray their country, following an interview in which he argued that Jews outside Israel should prioritize loyalty to the occupation state.

No need to say he comes from a Jewish family , according to a major Jewish organisation in Europe run by a professor Jews in total have more allegiance to Israel than the countries they live in . If you immigrate to Israel at least one parent must be Jewish and you have to learn Hebrew -of course you must be circumcised while its the practice in the USA ( shows you Jewish control ) its not the practice in Europe nor the UK . What I am trying to say is all non Jewish citizens of America are usually… Read more »

Turkiye can look after her own interests. The coup plot of 2016 with what appears to be the backing of UAE and possibly Amerikaaaana republic was crushed by Turkish security forces. Donnie should know better as to which side he chooses in American interests or bear the consequences. Israel is still small fry in the eyes of Ankara. Nuclear capable or not North Korea should be placed higher in Global Firepower rankings. The Turkiye Pakistan cooperation is advancing the technology and military capabilities of both nations. Saudi Arabia wants to be part of this success. Egypt under El-Sisi who doesn’t… Read more »

In answer to your last paragraph ( I agree entirely with the rest ) .Many years ago -Israel-Jordan – Egypt signed a special Free Trade Agreement which was based on “bribing ” those Muslim countries to have closer ties with Israel . The Egyptian/Jordan factories concerned are Jewish owned in the Technological business . This signed agreement enabled Egypt/Jordan access to the USA Market which is a major step forward for Egypt in particular as it allows purchase of technology that is used by that government to spy on and control the Egyptian population ( as you say UN-democratic )… Read more »
