Syria is free, wrote the Syrian Emergency Task Force (SETF) in a post on X, formerly Twitter, shortly after a cluster of militant groups swarmed Damascus on Sunday, in December 2024 and overthrew Bashar al-Assad’s government.
Mission Accomplished.
Syrian Emergency Task Force is proud to announce that the Assad regime, Russia, and Iran have been officially defeated in Syria by the Syrian people on their own and without any outside support from the international community, the statement read.

In response, an X user took a swipe at the SETF, saying that an al-Qaeda leader with strong ties to the so-called ISIS terrorist group and Western intelligence agencies is the exact freedom I was hoping for.
SETF has long been at the forefront of the American regime change project in Syria, funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAID), a proxy organization of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the foreign spy agency of the US military-industrial complex.
Operating under the guise of bringing an end to atrocities against Syrian civilians, this maligned agency has actively pursued the Washington DC regime change agenda in Syria through crippling sanctions and psychological operations to sway public opinion in the Arab country against its elected government.

Only a day after Assad was ousted from Damascus, SETF Executive Director Mouaz Moustafa met with US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan to discuss the accomplishment of the American coupe mission.
Moustafa reportedly also called for greater support from the US government as a reward.
Leaked documents reveal that SETF has received millions of dollars over the years to aggressively further the agenda of the US and its allies in Syria, with funding channeled through USAID.

Israel wasted no time following the abrupt collapse of Bashar al-Assad’s regime in Syria.
Within hours of Assad’s fall on December 8, 2024, Israeli forces seized the buffer zone separating the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights from the rest of Syria. They raised Israel’s flag atop Mount Hermon.
More than a month later, Israeli troops remain stationed in the UN-patrolled area — raiding government buildings and summoning residents for questioning — all the while alleging its presence is necessary to secure Israel’s border as the balance of power shifts in Syria.

Yet a combination of soldier and settler actions as of late question whether Israel has long-term plans for Syria. The same day as Assad’s ousting and Israel’s invasion, Uri Tzafon, an Israeli settler movement to reoccupy southern Lebanon, wrote on their blog,
In Syria too, we must go at least 10 kilometers [approximately six miles] deep and reclaim the entire Hermon range. Jewish settlement will ensure Israeli control for generations.
In 2024, speculation began to abound on whether Israel’s war goal wasn’t just eliminating Hamas but also included establishing an empire in the Middle East, as Israeli forces headed into Lebanon and now Syria, the hottest place in hell.

Israel has seized the highest peak in Syria, which is very valuable for military and intelligence purposes.
The main reason it’s being done is not so much ideological, territorial expansion, greater Israel, and so on, but primarily in order to establish Israeli hegemony in the Middle East and particularly decisive Israeli influence over what happens next in Syria.
A week after Assad’s fall in Syria, Israel’s government approved plans to expand Israeli settlements in the occupied Golan Heights, which Israel seized during the 1967 Six-Day War.

Netanyahu said he wants to double the settler population in the Golan, which currently has a settler population of approximately 30,000 concentrated in 35 settlements.
After Israel launched a wave of air strikes on Syria following the fall of the Baath regime, Tel Aviv sought to justify its attacks by expressing concerns over strategic weapons in its north-eastern Arab neighbor.
Israel claimed that its military attacks have targeted chemical weapons, long-range missiles and other military systems which it said could fall into the hands of extremists after anti-regime groups took control of the capital, Damascus, early Sunday.

Following directives from Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and Defense Minister, Israel Katz, Israeli forces entered the UN defended buffer zone in the Golan Heights, an area under Tel Aviv’s occupation for decades. Netanyahu called the brutal occupation temporary.
Pseudo-humanitarian organizations that aggressively campaigned for regime change in Syria include the British-funded White Helmets (Syria Civil Defense), Hand in Hand for Syria (HiHFAD), and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), among others.
All of these organizations were regarded as trusted and reliable sources by Western journalists and politicians, despite their direct ties to Syrian militants, the Israeli regime, and Western intelligence agencies.

SOHR, which supposedly focuses on human rights, is actually a one-man operation based in England and funded by the British Foreign Office. It has been widely exposed as a mouthpiece for MI6.
Considering its funding sources, leadership, connections, and methods of operation, SETF undeniably belongs to the same group of organizations.
Militants affiliated with the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) government in Syria have carried out 35 summary executions over the past 72 hours, a British-based war monitor says.
