The British government has war gamed emergency plans to cope with energy blackouts lasting up to seven days in the event of a national power outage, The Guardian reported on Tuesday. The stress-testing comes amid growing fears over energy security this winter.

According to documents marked official sensitive and seen by the outlet, in a reasonable worst-case scenario all sectors including transport, food and water supply, energy and communications, could be severely disrupted for up to a week.

If the country experiences blackouts, the priority will be to get food, water and shelter to the young and elderly people, as well as those with caring responsibilities.

The report indicated that a cross-government blueprint was first drawn up in 2021 to improve planning and resilience in the event of a major technical fault on the grid.

This is unrelated to the energy outlooks published by the national grid operator for this winter, according to The Guardian.

However, government insiders reportedly admitted that the plan, dubbed ‘Program Yarrow’, had taken on a new urgency at a time of a worsening energy crisis.

According to Ed Miliband, the shadow climate secretary: All governments do contingency planning for worst-case scenarios but the truth is that we are vulnerable as a country as a direct consequence of a decade of failed Conservative energy policy.

The report highlighted that the types of technical fault envisaged by government planners include flood damage or a lightning strike on a substation, but could also cover an attack on sub-sea power cables, such as with the recent sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines.

Program Yarrow prepares for a situation where power is unavailable, without any pre-warning, to all premises without backup generators during winter.

It envisages that 60% of electricity demand will be met between day 2 and day 7 when households and businesses will be given intermittent access to ration supply.

If they are even talking openly about it, it is only because they know they can’t stop what is coming and they want the public to believe they have a plan so when the blackouts start people won’t panic at first. Then when they happen more frequently or longer than 7 days the government can come up with excuses that buys more time for them to avoid public accountability.

Yes using fear mongering to control people is standard operating procedures for the globalists.

IF THERE are blackouts that last a week then other than the fact that the government has been lying to the people about it’s energy policy, the country could see half of them being frozen to death. They have NO ALTERNATIVE HEATING MATERIALS.

I notice your map excludes Scotland although Scottish generated electricity runs through the National Grid to England I must point out for those not living in Scotland that -as it stands Scotland is entirely SELF – sufficient in electricity due in no small part to the number of Hydro-electric schemes that have been operational for -in some cases 100 years and that the Scottish government insisted in self financing wind-farms even when England withdrew its grants etc many years ago.

Scotland wants to secede from GB, but the politicians at DS-10 won’t let that happen?

If the Tories deny another Referendum legally then at the next General Election if the majority vote for the SNP that will be taken as approving full independence –at the moment the 95 % Tory owned newspapers in Scotland are trying to tear Scotland apart via propaganda so you aren’t going to get any pro Scottish views on this subject in the media also the UK government is spending 100,000,s of £££ on an organisation issuing negative views on Scottish independence

Fascist propaganda glorifying occupation and designed evil atrocities? Scotland wants to get back and join the EU, another trap set in disguise.

The one fact that Westminster has a problem with is when asked if it believes in Democracy and in the will of a majority of people to decide for themselves their countries future –while they condemn other countries for lack of democracy but deny it for a country that ruled itself up until 400 years ago but was sold out against its wishes by “Lords & Ladies ” for gold and land in England . Look at the fight Eire put up for independence from England . In 1919 Churchill sent tanks to Glasgow to put down a workers uprising… Read more »
