European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell has conveyed the bloc’s strong concerns about Beijing potentially providing weapons to Moscow.

The warning came after US Secretary of State Antony Blinken made similar accusations last week, suggesting that China was preparing to send lethal assistance to Russia’s forces.

Speaking on the sidelines of a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels on Monday, the bloc’s top diplomat told journalists that he had personally asked Wang not to provide any arms to Russia and cross the red line in the diplomatic relations.

According to the Foreign affairs chief, Wang assured him that China has no plans to make any such deliveries, but Borrell said the EU would remain vigilant.

Over the weekend, US envoy to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield told CNN that any lethal support from Beijing to Moscow in the ongoing military conflict in Ukraine would cross Washington’s red line.

Another US politician, Anthony Blinken said such a move would have serious consequences on USA-China relations, adding that Washington was apparently already aware of Beijing providing non-lethal assistance to Moscow.

China’s Foreign Ministry responded to the allegations by urging the USA to seriously reflect on its own role in the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

It is the USA, not China, that has been pouring weapons into the battlefield. The USA is in no position to tell China what to do. We would never stand for finger-pointing, or even coercion and pressurizing from the USA on our relations with Russia.

Beijing has repeatedly insisted that it is on the side of peace and dialogue and called for talks between Moscow and Kiev, while accusing the US and NATO of fanning the flames of the conflict.

The red lines drawn by this Pentagon parrot at best isolates the Error Union he represents. And proves once again how unrealistic the West has become in relation to other countries in terms of sensitivity and diplomacy. Before the EU’s debt tsunami, China will not allow itself to be dictated to anything, but will use these red lines to free itself further from the dollar and euro, and in this way to free Southeast Asia from the influence of these blood, war and terror currencies. In this way it could finally succeed in making the whole of Southeast Asia debt-free… Read more »

Every man and his dog is supplying weapons, intelligence and money to Kiev and this E.U. fat cat is telling Beijing not to help Moscow????? I understand logic was invented on the opposite side of the Mediterranean but surely someone like Borrell who has been a cloistered academic his whole life should demonstrate an acceptable level of reason unless, as in all matters coming out of the E.U. and NATO, the responses are all scripted by a common denominator.

When you are controlled and ordered how to run your country by the USA you are dealing with Paranoid Schizophrenics they have no sense of justice -reality-reason and it shows how power can turn those with supposed intelligence in dominated countries into acting in a childlike manner — I have no sympathy for cowards and those that don’t stand up for the principles of Righteousness-Freedom from Oppression and Freedom to Express oneself as a World Citizen and a fair and equitable balance in the Rule of Law . BTW Baronmaya your maps are still much superior to many news websites… Read more »

Without maps most people have no idea of what it seems to be about. During the Gulf War they interviewed a US politicians and asked him if he knew where Iraq was situated. He answered, isn’t that near Texas somewhere, connecting his dots towards to the oil industry.
